But it kinda sucks imo.
Tue, 11 Mar 2008 10:06:52 +0000 John Bäckstrand comment 51976 at https://www.ejabberd.im Jabber SIP clients https://www.ejabberd.im/node/1040#comment-51405
I have done what you are trying to do.
Accomplish it by using openfire jabber server, and the spark messenger by the same company.
There is a plugin for the openfire server that allows you to map a sip phone to your jabber id.
You can place call with spark messenger, send files, or text chat.
The Phone plugin requires you have a sip account somewhere. I have my own asterisk server, so I use that.
very simple to use and setup.
Only trouble I ever had with it was on Mac OS Leopard. Spark crashes when ever someone answers the phone.
The windows client works.
Mon, 03 Dec 2007 21:10:38 +0000 Travis comment 51405 at https://www.ejabberd.im Jingle for Voice Over IP https://www.ejabberd.im/node/1040#comment-2224

breakevilaxis wrote:

I would not bother with SIP if there is a solution within jabber. The only problem is that the protocol is very new and thus is not yet implemented by much software.

--
sander
Fri, 08 Sep 2006 17:28:43 +0000 sander comment 2224 at https://www.ejabberd.im I would not bother with SIP https://www.ejabberd.im/node/1040#comment-2201
I would not bother with SIP if there is a solution within jabber. My understanding is that jabber is nothing with voice. I heard Gizmoproject is backend by SIP server and ejabberd server.

I searched on the web for several days. I can not find any jabber and sip combination client. I have to install a softphone for sip and the jwchat for ejabberd.
Tue, 05 Sep 2006 02:52:01 +0000 breakevilaxis comment 2201 at https://www.ejabberd.im Not SIP, but Coccinella https://www.ejabberd.im/node/1040#comment-2195
Not SIP, but Coccinella supports <noindex>JEP-0179: Jingle IAX Transport Method</noindex>.
