You can use it to connect to IRC channels using only a Jabber client.</p> <p>However, I have hacked <noindex><a href="http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/~henoch/text/ejabberd-ircd.html" rel="nofollow" >a module</a></noindex> to ejabberd that makes it behave as an ircd.
