(from <noindex>ejabberd's Wikipedia article</noindex>) Though, Jive Messenger does not (yet) support s2s at all. :-)

Compared to Jive Messenger (only things where Jive is better in):
* ejabberd is very easy to install, but not as extremely easy as Jive Messenger yet.
* ejabberd's webinterface is probably not as featureful as that of Jive.
* ejabberd's ODBC plugin is not yet tested against all SQL databases that Jive supports (though Mnesia is very nice).
* ejabberd's LDAP integration (especially automatic shared groups with LDAP) is AFAIK not as featureful as that of Jive.
* People are afraid when they hear ejabberd is written in that strange language called Erlang (though this is only a psychologic, marketing misfeature as in fact it is an advantage :-) ) instead of a well-known language like Java.
* ejabberd only has two (I think) payed developers (by Process One), while Jive Messenger has two dedicated developers plus a few others contributing small things (I heard). (though, I read that Erlang has a high programmer productivity)

--
sander
Mon, 23 May 2005 12:09:24 +0000 sander comment 478 at https://www.ejabberd.im
