Doesn't that field just designate the name of the group on each user's roster?
Thu, 20 Sep 2007 15:07:57 +0000 shanepardue comment 50912 at https://www.ejabberd.im set the 'Displayed groups' field https://www.ejabberd.im/node/2618#comment-50911

shanepardue wrote:

I entered the usernames as "user@localhost" and "user@domain" and neither seem to work. They are virtual in the sense that the user can't modify them, since the group is defined by you using the ejabberd Web Admin.

Other alternatives are not so sofisticated: mod_ctlextra and other modules or patches (probably written by me) are just little tools that the admin can use to easily add contacts to the rosters stored in the database. This means that the user can later modify those contacts, delete them...

My proposal: if you don't know which solution to use, try the Shared Roster module first. If it meets all your requirements, be happy. Only try other solutions like mod_ctlextra if Shared Roster does not provide you the features you need.
Wed, 19 Sep 2007 22:04:43 +0000 mfoss comment 50908 at https://www.ejabberd.im Sorry, didn't mean to post https://www.ejabberd.im/node/2618#comment-50907
Sorry, didn't mean to post anonymously.
Wed, 19 Sep 2007 21:49:29 +0000 shanepardue comment 50907 at https://www.ejabberd.im
