This convention of requiring a JID (a username plus domain name); is this for real? It seems amazing to me that the full JID is required. This server is internal and private to a small group of about 100 people. We don't care about the JID, just the username. It would be nice to go with username only and throw out the JID.
Mon, 21 Jan 2008 14:55:34 +0000 Brian Michalk comment 51663 at https://www.ejabberd.im I don't understand your problem https://www.ejabberd.im/node/2797#comment-51657
I don't understand your problem. The ejabberd Guide says: 'Members: A list of full JIDs of group members, ...'. So, you must put full JIDs, not just the usernames.

Anyway, I tried your last example in ejabberd 2.0.0-rc1 and Erlang R11B-5: I see both user1 and user2@localhost in my 'localhost' server. But of course the JID 'user1' is not the same than 'user1@localhost'. So, I get the presence from user2@localhost, but not from user1@localhost.
Sun, 20 Jan 2008 16:35:32 +0000 mfoss comment 51657 at https://www.ejabberd.im
