I don't know the status of ubuntu packages.</p> <p>You can try: uninstall ejabberd, remove all the content, database, config...<br /> Then install ejabberd. Don't touch the configuration. The default server name is 'localhost' probably. Using two different Jabber clients create two accounts and login. Add them as contacts, and chat between them.
