I imagine your username is "pipal", your host is "example.org". Configure your desktop client to use as resource "mydesktop", and your mobile client to use as resource "mobilerules". For example.

You can login with both clients at the same time. In ejabberd you will have two sessions:
pipal@example.org/mydesktop
and
pipal@example.org/mobilerules

If your client supports it, you can chat with the other client, too.
