The override options here might be interesting for you. To enable TLS on client to server connections (port 5222), you can take a look at the starttls and starttls_required options. In the guide there is no example with these options (yet), but you can find a good example in your ejabberd.cfg.

That makes sense, but I don't know what changes would need to be made. Is there some documentation on how to code the config file, because I can't tell by just looking at it, and I don't understand what I need to do even after reading the Ejabberd 1.1.1 Installation and Operation Guide http://www.process-one.net/en/projects/ejabberd/docs/guide_en.html
