I've just completed an install of ejabberd 1.1.3 on a gentoo server via portage and prepared a slightly modified version of the default configuration. Starting ejabberd via the init scripts works fine, but the resulting daemon refuses all connections, even from ejabberdctl, and as far as I can tell cannot be halted except with kill. I've been unable to find any errors, logs, or anything to indicate what the problem is.
