Flash and ejabberd

Hello to everyone :)

This is my first post here and am doing some research into using this server as a replacement for our current server (jabberd2). The reason for us wanting to change servers is because of the following post i found:

Ted wrote:

There is an error in the 2.0+ jabberd server release for support for protocol (Flash support). The error will disconnect the flash client unexpectedly during high message loading or low bandwidth conditions. This error may extend to certain other XMLSocket servers also. \0

I have send emails to the JabberD team and the error has been confirmed. When I find out about a patch I will post the info. This is most likely the main reason we have seen so few successful Flash Jabber projects. Hopefully this will change things as JabberD simply rocks as a server!

Can anyone confirm that there are absolutly no problems running ejabberd with the flash patch?
And what's everyone's general feeling having worked with ejabberd?

Many thanks in advance to your responses... :)

If you don't get responses, you can check yourself:

  • Ask your boss to lend you a machine to do an experiment
  • Go to a corner in the office, download ejabberd source, apply the patch, compile and check it works
  • You can use jabsimul to generate load on the Jabber server
  • You can leave the server, jabsimul and some Flash clients running all weekend

If there is people unhappy with ejabberd, they probably don't use it, and hence aren't browsing this forum, right? If you don't get answers, try asking on jdev@conference.jabber.org chatroom, for example.

thanks for your responce!
