Announcement Oddity and CN Display Problem

Greetings all...I hope these aren't questions that have been asked before and if so, I apologize. I haven't been able to find any constructive help in this regard.

Anyways, our jabber system has given us two minor problems that we'd like to be able to repair:

Background: We run ejabberd on an internal server with authentication/registration through LDAP.

1. Two (and only two..or more if they aren't telling us...out of 100+) users are not receiving ANY blast/annoucement messages. They can send and receive direct messages just fine, but they cannot and will not receive any messages from our blast account.

2. A few (again...only a few out of 100+ and different than the above accounts) accounts are showing properly in EVERY respect except when joining a group chat. Instead of showing their alias username, they're showing their uid name. For example, my name "Justin Los" shows up normally everywhere, but my uid 'los' may show up in the group chat. I'm not one of those affected, but this is the symptom of the problem.

For the life of me, I cannot find any differing configurations in the LDAP server for this difference and I cannot find anything in the ejabberd.cfg file that would lead me down any paths. Doing an ejabberdctl dump has led me to no more conclusions.

Any help would be much appreciated!

-Justin Los

Can anyone help with this

Can anyone help with this problem? At least maybe some idea of where to look? It'd be VERY much appreciated, and I'd buy you a beer if you could (through bitcoin)!

Regarding your first

Regarding your first question. Personally I would check if they blacklisted the announcement account (unintentionally). That sould be done on ejabberd side, or at their client...

Unfortunately, cannot even try to help with the second.

From what I've looked at on

From what I've looked at on their end...they have no blacklisting at all and there's nothing on the server side...thanks for the help though! At least you responded. =) If you still want that beer, let me know.
