I have been following the http://www.ejabberd.im/tuto-install-ejabberd guide then http://www.ejabberd.im/node/1051
I attempted to run commands found on the process-one documention, but that only caused an erl dump.
However when I ran /etc/init.d/ejabberd start it did start as is evidenced when I run the ps command.
I have two issues:
1.
Despite having created an 'A' record for my jabber server, and have given the server a static ip, whenever I attempt to register a gaim client (2.0.0beta4) it says that it cannot find my host. I have checked several gaim-related sites on the internet and the settings are correct (username, server=fqdn, passwd, alias, all other defaults)
2.
The administrative login does not work with either IP address or fqdn
I am running debian testing 2.6.18-3-686 (etch) with erlang ver.11.b.2-4, and ejabberd ver. 1.1.2-4.
Any and all help, is greatly appreciated.
Check if it listens, checl log files
Maybe ejabberd is running, but... is it listening? Check if it listens on port 5222, for example, using:
Also check ejabberd log files, they may indicate an error that prevents ejabberd from running correctly.
