Hi,
I'm running ejabberd on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS but can't get it working. I configured it to use my host name (hosts entries set to mydomain.de) and edited /etc/hosts so that mydomain.de can be found there. Now when I try to create a new user using ejabberctl I get error message
Failed RPC connection to the node ejabberd@server3: nodedown
Amazingly server3 is the name of the server it is running at. But: why does it use the servers name but not the configured mydomain.de?
Thanks!
There are many reasons
There are many reasons ejabberdctl fails to work.
But at least ejabberd should accept XMPP connections. Try to register the account using a Jabber client. I guess you set "mydomain.de" in the hosts section in ejabberd.cfg.
