Installation Problems on Debian Sarge

(This post is written in another thread too, but in order to keep this board sorted i continue here)

I tried the way of the tutorial to install ejabberd on debian sarge with no success.
But in case i made any mistakes, i repeated the whole thing and
follwowed every line in the tutorial exactly.
The following lines are the message i got:

juppo:/home/jabber/otp_src_R9C-2# apt-get install ejabberd
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
ejabberd: Depends: erlang (>= 1:9.2.2-6) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages

I followed exactly every line of the manual/tutorial.
Hopefully anyone can help me out, cause I have absolutely no idea
what went wrong and what i need to do now.

thx in advance

best regards
juppo

Yes. erlang 9.2.2 was removed

Yes. erlang 9.2.2 was removed from sarge. My ejabberd package is however built against this version of erlang. You may install ejabberd for woody following the tutorial.

thx teo

Teo, thx for your reply!!!

I tried this way now, but had nearly same problems.

Later i tried installing another *.deb package with set "dependecies ignored", but can't say if it worked well.
At least i dont have that much errors on installation,
but still can't get a runing server ...

Last known error:
Starting jabber server: ejabberd/usr/sbin/ejabberdctl: line 18: exec: erl: not found.

looks bad

Looks like i have to give it up.
I can't get it working, maybe cause i am new to all this.
The tutorial doesn't work too, so i have too many
problems to solve them.
Thanx all for your help.
Maybe i try it out again later.

regards
juppo
