The answer is quite obvious: the conference rooms do not have vcard because that feature is not implemented :P

The next question is: why wasn't it implemented? A possible answer is: because XEP-0045: Multi-User Chat does not mention a word about vcards. And the person that implemented mod_muc didn't consider that vcard feature a big deal

Of course, if you are really interested in that feature you can implement it or file a formal feature request in the bug tracker. If you expect that feature to be included in ejabberd trunk, I advise you to make sure there are clients out there that can use it, and that it really is a useful feature.

By the way, I would prefer that the resources spent in mod_muc are directed to update its XEP support.

More of XEP-0045?
