I put in conference.jabber.ru as my default jabber server in ayttm and my login/pass for this site and i can't connect. any hints on what i'm doing wrong?

ayttm is has not so good
ayttm is has not so good support for Jabber. Can you try with another client first (preferable one that only supports Jabber)?
