How to enable md5 encryption in ejabberd

I have successfully installed ejabberd on my linux server. its working fine.
But at the client end, i have made the such changes that a user when logins, then its password will be encrypted to md5 encryption techique and then send to ejabberd server for authentication. But problem is that when that encrypted password goes to ejabberd server then authentication is failed. Its due to server is not configured to accept password in md5 encrypted format.
Can any linux expert help me to configure its configuration file which supports MD5 encryption.
