Now i got ejabberd up and running with jwchat installed... when i go to the login page at
... the window opens but gives an alert message as "service unavailable". Please help me with this ..

check if your rewrite is
check if your rewrite is working if you type the output should be the same as or http-poll if you use polling. I had the same problem but solved it too quickly to remember what exactly was the cause. Also rename all the translations - select your language and rename *.html.en to *.html and the same for .js. Also your http-base should be set to http-bind or http-poll depending on your setup
