Erlang compile problem with openssl and Suse Enterprise Server 8

Hello,

I try to compile Erlang on SuSE Enterprise Server 8 to install EJABBERD. When I run configure I get the messages:
*********************************************************************
********************** APPLICATIONS DISABLED **********************
*********************************************************************

crypto : No usable OpenSSL found
jinterface : No Java compiler found
ssh : No usable OpenSSL found
ssl : No usable OpenSSL found

O.K. Erlang compiles, but ejabberd does not run with this.

Openssl-devel is installed according to the suse tool yast:
openssl 0.9.6g-114
openssl-devel 0.9.6g-114

Why is this 'no usable openssl' version???

Thanx very much,

Regards,
Daniel

Hi all

I have nearly the same on debian sarge:

*********************************************************************
********************** APPLICATIONS DISABLED **********************

jinterface : No Java compiler found

*********************************************************************

Is anyone around here who can help with this?

This message during Erlang co

This message during Erlang compilation is not a problem if you only plan to use ejabberd: 'Open Source Erlang/OTP' includes a lot of libraries (OTP), some of them to interface with other languajes (C, Java...).

On your system Erlang/OTP will not compile a library called 'jinterface'. Since ejabberd does not need that in any way, you can safely continue installing ejabberd.

still having problems

thanx for fast reply
I'll try and continue from this step.

tried installing ejabberd with apt-get - failed caused by dependency problems

tried downloading ejabberd manualy and installing from source:

Selecting previously deselected package ejabberd.
(Reading database ... 30677 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking ejabberd (from .../ejabberd_0.7.5-7sarge1_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of ejabberd:
ejabberd depends on erlang (>= 1:9.2.2-6); however:
Package erlang is not installed.
dpkg: error processing ejabberd (--install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
ejabberd

it would be nice if anyone can help out

best regards
Juppo
