Hi. I´m using a 1&1 managed server.
Before trying to install ejabberd i´d like to know, if someone has already tryed or even mastered to install it on this server. Searching the internet didn´t help me yet. Tools like yast seem to be restricted.

What is 1&1 and why do you worry it won't work?
You can install ejabberd on a local directory (/home/donconso/ejabberd/ for example), and run it from there, without root access.
1&1 is the biggest provider
1&1 is the biggest provider in germany.
It´s good to know. that i don´t need root access to install ejabberd, but what about the dependencys like libncurses5-dev, libssl-dev and erlang.
Ok, that´s something i can test on my own, but maybe someone can offer me a helpfull hint :)
As far as i know, the server is based on Suse 9.1

The binary installer contains all dependencies.
