ejabberd works except cannot see online users

Hello,

I recently compiled & installed the latest erlang & ejabberd on SuSE 9.3. I followed all the install guides carefully, and after writing my own /etc/init.d/ejabberd startup script, I was able to get the whole server running as a daemon against my existing MySQL user database (coming out of postfix). I'm using a custom PHP authentication script to authenticate users against my existing postfix user database. My associate and I can connect to the server successfully using our jabber clients, we can send each other a message manually, but we cannot see each other online. Can someone give me any ideas of what might be happening here?

Thanks,
Daniel

  • Did you add him as a contact, etc...?
  • Go to the web interface, and check the rosters of your users. Ideally you both will have the other person with 'Subscription: both', as Bob and Julia do on this example: Bob, Julia.
  • What Jabber client? Could it be a buggy client? Remove your contacts from the roster and try with another client.
  • It's improbable to be a problem in your configuration, but it could be a bug or crash on ejabberd/database. Check ejabberd log files for messages like 'CRASH REPORT' or 'ERROR REPORT'.
