Hi,
I'm a new user, i successfully installed ejabberd 0.9.0 on a linux system.
Q 1 > We have an another server running with jabber 1.4, is that possible me to connect these two servers? (i was in a assumption that S2S is for that..). If yes can anybody give me a step by step approach for it?
Q 2 > If S2S configuration will work only for ejabberd to ejabberd server then can i port the users and other configurations to a new ejabberd server?
Also let me know where can i get more information on S2S.
Thanks,
chandra
make sure to understand what 's2s' means
Q1: S2S in Jabber means that two completely independent Jabber servers (let's say amessage.de that runs jabberd and jabber.ru that runs ejabberd) allow their respective users to chat (and a lot more) between them.
It's the equivalent in email if a user in gmail.com sends a message to an account in mail.yahoo.com.
S2S is usually enabled in the Jabber servers, so you don't need to configure anything. Just allow access to port 5269 in the firewalls.
Q2: Well, ejabberd includes support to import a jabberd spool directory, including users, rosters, vcard...
If you are interested in serving several domains, you can configure one single ejabberd server with various virtual domains.
Thanks,
Thank you very much. it helped to understand well about s2s. I'm able to chat with the other jabbers just by adding them into my roster.
