ejabberd + gentoo + http-bind = fail

I have installed ejabberd 2 on gentoo (via emerge) with all the configure options but odbc (since I use my own auth script).

Using Pidgin I can connect to the server normally and it works perfectly; although I've tried iJab, JWChat, any web client that was possible and they doesn't work.

I've tried via apache proxy, but it gave me allways a 502 proxy error, so I've started using the ejabberd web server (on 5280 port) but it allways fails to connect :(

Is there any GOOD jabber client (even if it's not free, I don't care) that WORKS with ejabberd and an external database ?
Just like Pidgin, but via web. If it's a PHP script, BETTER.

I've seen phurple out there but it's alpha, and the homepage is currently down, I don't know if it's temporal or if it just died.

The development version of

The development version of Gajim supports HTTP-Bind.

Regarding web clients, the best known is JWChat, and the easiest way to set it up with ejabberd is following this tutorial: Install JWChat with ejabberd's HTTP-Bind and file server.
